i'd opt for the first option. i don't know whether they test on animals but loreal do some really cruel things like dripping the stuff into the animals eyes and cutting them and rubbing the shampoo in. just warning you.

It's way cheaper than the brands you listed but the new Head and Shoulders shampoos are great. They have a formula for every type of hair and do a great job getting rid of the dandruff. If I start to get flakes I wash my hair with their moisturizing formula for about 3 days straight and the flakes are gone.

I don't have a lot of dandruff unless I don't wash it for a long long time, then it gets horrible and looks worse. I just give my hair a really good shampoo (using any shampoo) and scalp massage to get it all out, and then it looks fine.
I dont really know.. maybe Head and Shoulders, i think they thay have a variety of different kinds one sensitive scalps.. might be less harsh on your hair.. so the color won't fade. Try Wal-mart, CVS and other drug stores. ;)

Sunsilk anti poof shampoo?
I just bought it and used it. It seems to have helped my poof, but not the frizz. I was wondering should i use the anti poof shampoo instead. Or should I use a mix of both? Like keep the shampoo, but use the anti frizz cream ?Would this help?Sunsilk anti poof shampoo?

If that doesn't work baking soda will kill them too. Put it on dry hair and let sit for 30 minutes, then wash out.Any anti-flea shampoo for people?

Most of the symptoms of dandruff, the flakes, are due to fungus. If you have not yet tried Nizoral shampoo, which is an ant-fungal, give it a try.
Use it for alternate days for 2-3 weeks, then twice a week, and finally when the problem is solved continue maintenance at twice a month,using ordinary shampoos in between.

ok quit scrubbing with the brush....when u use the shampoo scrub with your fingers (but not hard just enough to feel good) and then get some conditioner and do just like you did with the shampoo and rub it into your scalp (dont hurt your self) and let it set there for a few minutes and most important of all *rinse with cool or cold water ....not warm it literally has to be cool or cold no warmth at all .......try that and give it a day or two of doin that and let me know how it works.......it works for me :)Dandruff.....I use anti dandruff shampoo, #4 blade haircut, and scrub my scalp with a scalp brush.?
it might not be dandruff but another skin condition if nothing is working for you. it might be some sort of dermatitis or something that needs some stronger medication to clear up. i would suggest seeing your gp or going to a skin specialist.
You probably have dry skin. Real Dandruff smells mousy and is more rare. If there is an odor, you should see a physician. If your scalp is flaky without odor, your just have dry skin. You can resolve this issue by using a ph balanced shampoo and conditioner. You can get them at your local hair salon. It's a bit more expensive, but definitely worth it. Let the sales clerk know that your scalp is dry and they can suggest a product that's right for you. If it's financially difficult for you to buy the salon quality products, you may be able to get by with a good shampoo and skip the conditioner.

What kind of dandruff you have will determine the way it needs to be treated, if it's flakey white dry dandruff then it's just dry scalp, if it's more yellow or grey bits then it's fungal, in which case you'd want something anti fungal like tea tree oil.
First thing I'd suggest though is forget the anti-dandruff shampoos, they don't cure dandruff, they contain cytostatic chemicals like zinc pyrithione to reduce scalp cell growth, and keratolytic chemicals like salicylic acid to loosen outer layers of skin on scalp reducing dead cell build-up. These chemicals and common shampoo ingredients like sodium lauryl sulfate are irritants that can actually cause dandruff. You can get shampoos without irritants, try different brands to rule out ingredients you may be sensitive to or go for more natural brands, better still try going without shampoo.
Going shampoo-free will stop dandruff, also giving healthier hair and scalp, this is because shampoos strip natural oils damaging hair and causing scalp to produce more oil making hair greasy and agrivating dandruff (yes, ditching shampoo would stop dandruff and it won't ever get greasy!). To go shampoo-free use a tablespoon of baking soda in a cup of water, apply to roots and leave to sit for a minute to stimulate blood flow, clean pores and get off grime. Once a week also rinse with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to a cup of water, let sit for a minute and rinse, this promotes circulation, regulates skin pH, is antiseptic and an exfolient so does the job of ingredients in anti-dandruff shampoos. Or you can try the conditioner-only or curly girl method which is just using conditioner which contain mild surfactants that are enough to wash the scalp and without drying it out or irritating your scalp, your hair and scalp will be a million times better for it - I use conditioner-only, it's easy to use than the standard shampoo-free method and you get better results faster. If you don't want to go shampoo-free try using the apple cider vinegar as a rinse after washing to get it's benefits, or try a dandruff rinse by mixing half a cup of apple cider vinegar, half a cup of chopped mint leaves and one cup of boiling water, cool and strain before using it as a rinse. If you have an oily scalp try mixing together 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar or lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of distilled water and 2 tablespoons olive oil, massage into your scalp and leave for 20 minutes before shampooing. If you have a dry scalp mix together 2 tablespoons jojoba oil and quarter a teaspoon of tea tree oil, massage into wet hair leaving for 10 minutes before shampooing. Herbs and essential oils are another option to try, get chamomile, elderflower, nettle or sage herbal tea bags, make your tea, cool and use it as a rinse. Essential oils to use are cedarwood, patchouli, rosemary , sage, thyme or tea tree, just add a few drops to some water and rinse your hair, or massage a few drops into yur scalp before shampooing.

What kind of dandruff you have will determine the way it needs to be treated, if it's flakey white dry dandruff then it's just dry scalp, if it's more yellow or grey bits then it's fungal, in which case you'd want something anti fungal like tea tree oil.
First thing I'd suggest though is forget the anti-dandruff shampoos, they don't cure dandruff, they contain cytostatic chemicals like zinc pyrithione to reduce scalp cell growth, and keratolytic chemicals like salicylic acid to loosen outer layers of skin on scalp reducing dead cell build-up. These chemicals and common shampoo ingredients like sodium lauryl sulfate are irritants that can actually cause dandruff. You can get shampoos without irritants, try different brands to rule out ingredients you may be sensitive to or go for more natural brands, better still try going without shampoo.
Going shampoo-free will stop dandruff, also giving healthier hair and scalp, this is because shampoos strip natural oils damaging hair and causing scalp to produce more oil making hair greasy and agrivating dandruff (yes, ditching shampoo would stop dandruff and it won't ever get greasy!). To go shampoo-free use a tablespoon of baking soda in a cup of water, apply to roots and leave to sit for a minute to stimulate blood flow, clean pores and get off grime. Once a week also rinse with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to a cup of water, let sit for a minute and rinse, this promotes circulation, regulates skin pH, is antiseptic and an exfolient so does the job of ingredients in anti-dandruff shampoos. Or you can try the conditioner-only or curly girl method which is just using conditioner which contain mild surfactants that are enough to wash the scalp and without drying it out or irritating your scalp, your hair and scalp will be a million times better for it - I use conditioner-only, it's easy to use than the standard shampoo-free method and you get better results faster. If you don't want to go shampoo-free try using the apple cider vinegar as a rinse after washing to get it's benefits, or try a dandruff rinse by mixing half a cup of apple cider vinegar, half a cup of chopped mint leaves and one cup of boiling water, cool and strain before using it as a rinse. If you have an oily scalp try mixing together 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar or lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of distilled water and 2 tablespoons olive oil, massage into your scalp and leave for 20 minutes before shampooing. If you have a dry scalp mix together 2 tablespoons jojoba oil and quarter a teaspoon of tea tree oil, massage into wet hair leaving for 10 minutes before shampooing. Herbs and essential oils are another option to try, get chamomile, elderflower, nettle or sage herbal tea bags, make your tea, cool and use it as a rinse. Essential oils to use are cedarwood, patchouli, rosemary , sage, thyme or tea tree, just add a few drops to some water and rinse your hair, or massage a few drops into yur scalp before shampooing.
despite so many brands in the market choose the best one for your scalp type. mainly dandruff comes due to oil,dirt etc .avoid using more oil in your scalp.it will be best if you apply oil in night and wash it in morning with sampoo.avoid taking oily foods.pantene antidandruff sampoo and head and shoulders will workout good if used with a good conditioner

a beauty supply store should sell them and in any case you should just deep condition your hair. there is one called Henna Placenta, that you can use once a week. and then aphogee makes good deep conditioners. Maybe your hair is lacking protein or moisture. The placenta is protein and the deep conditioner is good for moisture.

Actually dandruff is a skin disease so better if u consult a dermatologist .Using anti dandruff shampoo will not be that effective as they contain harmful chemicals .If u want u can use lemon juice or curd to wash ur hair to remove dandruff which is effective and no side affects too.its a home remedy also

your groomer needs to get all the soap out of your dog after its bath.i have been a groomer for17 yrs now and i've seen it a million times.and it leads to lots of unnecessary vet cost.trust me after 2 or 3 good baths washed twice.and a very very good rinse.you should see it start to get better.if he's itching you can give him a benadryl allergy pill in the morning to stop the itching.

Hey, I bought a nizoral anti-dandruff shampoo, and ive been using it like for 1 or 2 weeks, but now im trying this cycle where, i shampoo with it every 3-4 days. It doesn't stink and I just shower with it. since it has zink in it, it kills the fungus between my toes, and my feet and crotch don't smell bad any more. You will have to try different conditioners because we are all different. There is no one size fits all.

Ok, I'll admit I may have used this product excessively like an ordinary shampoo (didn't know it was medicinal) and now my hair is really bad. It's extremely dry (or damaged? You should try crushing an asprin into your favourite normal shampoo, I do it when I run out of head and shoulders (which incidently I find works brilliantly) and it works well.
Failing that you could try T-Gel, which is strong but works.
Try T/gel its a brown shampoo with coal tar extract, basically a strong anti dandruff.
equal parts of witch hazel and mouthwash mixed together. yes this has worked for me in the past. i work in a pharmacy and heard about it there. Shampoo as normal then apply the mixture, leave for one minute then rinse. this should work for you.
go get a ';pert plus fresh'; nothing beats it. then scrub hard and you will see a difference.
there is a product by Aveda. its called Scalp Remedy. it runs @ $11 bucks a bottle. sounds a bit expensive, but it does last a long time. i use it after a shower. i part my hair, apply to scalp, rub in. then i part another section of hair and repeat. repeat this until your scalp has been covered. usually, i only have to use it consecutively for a few days. then the problem goes away for weeks! then you use it again. you can find it at any salon/location that sells Aveda products. its amazing.

hiya okay this may sound a bit sad but you can buy this special hair oil i buuy mine from london and its called vatika hair oil i suppose theres a hole load of oils out there and what you do is leave it in your hair 4 a day i think teh way it works is that your scalp is proberly dry ofr hasnt got nutrients or something so if you put this in and tie your hair upp it will proberbly absorb it extremely fast anyways yeah it may be a bit of trouble washing it out but i find the easist way to get it out is to leave conditioner in my hair for like 3 minutes, this works best for me i ahve excema and it affects my head aswell this works best hope this helps

I've got acne. I shower every morning and I wash my hair with normal shampoo twice. If i use anti-oily shampoo will this cut down on the oil in my hair and then on my skin?

Yes i recommend Gel do not use head and shoulders i got a bad reaction off it because i though i had bad dandruff but it wasn't as bad as it should have been and it made my head full of white scabes and it was quite sore and it took along time to go away i had to use a natural shampoo, So please just be careful what you use

I always use Elvive in the blue container with orange writing, you only need to use it once a month so it's excellent for exactly your problem.

ok i have been advised by hairdressers not to use head and shoulders and instead they say if you cant afford a product from them try timotei, they have an anti-dandruff one. one hairdresser even told me this was better than what they stocked in her salon!! make sure its an anti dandruff one you need though and not just that you have a sensitive scalp and that what your using is currenlty irritating it!!

You know what buddy? Dont use that crap ive tried it and no crap. Here dandruff runs in my family and i use a diffrent method, now what i am about to tell u may sound a bit odd to shower with but it does work to get rid of your dandruff and u can shake your hair all morning tommorrow and not find the tinyest flake.
Take some rubbing alcahol soap, and strawberries. Now apply strawberries in your hair, it mosturizes it. then put on a little bit of rubbing alcahol. (dont get that **** in your eyes) then once thats done use soap to wash it out the rubbing alcahol will kill the bacteria and secure the strawberries.

I've worked in vet clinics, I've seen it with my own eyes.
You need to wash all that off him. Use Dawn, or any dishwashing liquid.
If he starts to act sick, RUN to a vet.
Watch for:
Drooling and acting drunk.

could be itching or sensitivity. they do have that medication that you apply once a month on the back of the neck. if you vacuum your house, need to get rid of the bag and treat carpet every couple of weeks. also, need yard sprayed where animal uses bathroom. talk with vet about flea dips/ avoid adams flea dip, I used it on my puppy/sheltie when we lived in Florida, he lived his natural life, but, was diagnosed w Myasthenia Gravis, which is unusual in shelties, he had a thymectomy and required prednisone and mestinon. I think the flea dip absorbed into his skin/nervous system. It worked for killing fleas, but, thank God, I moved out west, first to Idaho(military) then Colorado, no fleas in either place. My mom didn't have any problem in Port St. Lucie Florida, she did use that once a month on the dog, her yard was fine, I took two of my dogs there for a year, no fleas, before, it was in Miami, we tried everything from fogging the house, spraying the yard etc. took awhile, but did get under control. Sevin dust can be used on dogs/yard, plants, vegetables. might want to wash off medicine that you used, some dogs can have low dose of benadryl, but ask vet first if this will help w itching/licking/allergy. it does make them sleepy. good luck.

Go to your vet and get a Flea pack..I think there's 4 per pack(it will last 4 months)..This is the only way,to get rid of those Nasty Fleas..Just one Flea bite, will cause a dog to bite and scratch themselves until they are raw!!!

I have my dogs on Sentinel Spectrum and they have never had fleas or worms.
The best way to get rid of fleas is by prevention; fleas thrive in heat and humidity (and are most active in summer and fall), so assess your pet and his environment frequently.
I wouldn't worry. dogs don't like the smell of shampoos they will always lick themselves after a bath to put back their own smell.

Put the cream stuff in your hair after you wash it (only use a little bit). Flip your head upside-down and blowdry it like that. It will get so much volume in it.

Go to the doctor to have your chemical levels checked. I have hypothyroidism and it causes your hair to come out more than usual. Your skin is really dry, you're tired all the time and it's really hard to lose weight.
Another possibility could be that you are brushing your hair too much or putting it up in a pony tail every day. Doing both things makes your hair weak and very breakable.

1. Eat a healthy, balanced diet. As if you needed another reason to eat right, it turns out that a healthy diet may ward off the flakes. Make sure to get plenty of zinc, Omega-3 fatty acids, and B-vitamin, and avoid excessive yeast and sugar. Research suggests that dandruff is at least in part caused by a fungus that thrives in yeasty, fatty, sugary environments. Though this does not neccesarily directly affect the conditions of your skin, your overall health will help with how your body responds to the fungus causing the dandruff.
2. Don't worry, be happy. Stress challenges the body's defenses and encourages all sorts of ailments, including dandruff, so relax now and don't worry about wearing a black shirt tomorrow.
3. Limit your use of hair styling products. Hairspray, mousse, and gel may contribute to dandruff in some people. They may also cause excessive drying of the skin, which can cause flaking--or trigger allergic reactions. If you notice dandruff soon after you begin to use a new product, chances are the product is to blame. The exception to this would be using a therapeutic styling gel or spray formulated with Tea Tree Oil, (ex. brand name - FlakeFree therapeutic styling gel and spray).
4. Wash your hair regularly. Dandruff seems to thrive in oily hair, so regular shampooing can help you fight it off. If you already have dandruff, washing your hair may help you keep the symptoms (the flakes) under control until it goes away. Massage your scalp so that you clean your skin, as well as your hair. This is one time when the ';repeat'; directions in ';wash, rinse, and repeat'; may be useful. The first washing breaks up the waxy sebum, and the second washing helps rinse it all away.
5. Use a shampoo designed to treat dandruff. If dandruff persists despite regular shampooing, you may need something stronger. There are a variety of anti-dandruff shampoos available at your pharmacy or grocery store, and they usually work. Be sure to follow the instructions carefully, and make a little extra time to shower, as most of these recommend that you leave them in for 5-10 minutes and lather twice.
6. Be aware that there are different active ingredients in dandruff shampoos. If one does not work for you try another. Ketoconazole (brand name Nizoral) is extremely effective against certain types of dandruff that are caused by a fungus. 1% ketoconazole is available without prescription in the US, 2% requires a prescription. The 2% is available without a prescription in Canada.
7. Be patient. While anti-dandruff shampoos may produce results after a few uses, it can take a week or two to see the difference.
8. Switch it up. If one type of anti-dandruff shampoo doesn't seem to work, or if it works for a time but then doesn't, switch to a product with another active ingredient (the active ingredient will be labeled on the bottle).

Be sure to follow the instructions carefully, and make a little extra time to shower, as most of these recommend that you leave them in for 5-10 minutes and lather twice.
6. Be aware that there are different active ingredients in dandruff shampoos. If one does not work for you try another. Ketoconazole (brand name Nizoral) is extremely effective against certain types of dandruff that are caused by a fungus. 1% ketoconazole is available without prescription in the US, 2% requires a prescription. The 2% is available without a prescription in Canada.
7. Be patient. While anti-dandruff shampoos may produce results after a few uses, it can take a week or two to see the difference.
8. Switch it up. If one type of anti-dandruff shampoo doesn't seem to work, or if it works for a time but then doesn't, switch to a product with another active ingredient (the active ingredient will be labeled on the bottle).

I had to deal with this for a long time and I was very confused. I finally broke down and went to a dermatologist who told me I have a psoriasis on my scalp. Basically, it when your skin platelets builds up too fast underneath of each other and push the top layer of skin up. It comes off in large flakes and is located in certain areas of the scalp, not all over. Oily hair makes the problem worse.
If you think this could be your problem, go to your local pharmacy and get a medicated shampoo specifically for psoriasis. They're a little expensive, but they work very well. There is no cure unfortunately, so you'll have to use the shampoo for life. It doesn't smell very nice, so I recommend a nice scented conditioner.

I am a professional stylist in Canada ...... yes , by using both the shampoo and conditioner designed for frizz control you will get the benefit of them both............... frizzy hair which is usually curly hair has a different shape to the hair shaft and the cuticle on that hair shaft is more open................ there for frizzy................ the controllers help to smooth it they do not actually close it.................. you must use a good salon product. There are several brands...............sometimes you just a good protein shampoo and a good moisturizing conditioner and then a serum to smooth it before you use the blow dryer and flat iron.................. go talk to your stylist and she if she agrees with me............ I am alto of experience in this area as I specialize in excessively curl ( afro- american) hair.

I like the Tresemme volumizing shampoo+conditioner, but I'm not sure of the breakage one. The last time I bought it was when I went to Taiwan and it was around 50 taiwan yen wich is about $2.50 US dollars. So in America it would be around $4.00 for medium bottle.
If you want something cheaper that works better, I suggest the Pantene Ice shine.

What I like to use is a hot tools hair straightener (or which ever one you like) and some glossy hair serum to smooth it out. 10 minutes is all it takes. Well longer if you wash your hair b/c you can you have to blowdry it or wait for it to air dry. Sometimes I even put the glossy hair serum in wet hair and comb it, but it can get really flat and greasy if you put in too much. Hope that helped.
