Yes, most of them do get rid of the eggs as well. Just make sure to follow the directions on the bottle so that you are getting the proper amount of treatments. If your scalp feels itchy after you have done the treatments, go to your dr. to make sure they are gone. If you are a guy, the best thing you can do is to shave your head... if you are a girl, I understand not wanting to loose your hair. just check the box or ask the pharmacy i have headlice a lot cus of the children i work with. nothin to be embarssed about and dont let anyone tel u other wise.
u usually have to do treatments agen after 7 days wen any missed eggs will hatch agen. also go thru hair with the nit comb evry other day with lots of conditioner so eggs come out easily.
most treatments kill eggs to but make sure u check cus they will hatch more,check ur families hair too as they cud have them.
oh and also to the comment above headlice DO NOT AND CANNOT live off the head so scrubbin and cleanin ur whole house realy is a crazy idea....maybe change ur towels but seriosly lice cant fly and they cant jump they just run and they realy are rather daft out of hair, they dont live long, the eggs live a little longer but its virtually impossible for them to attach themselves onto anythin once they are off a hair.

Yes, that is their purpose. Do wash all your towels and bedding in hot water too. And scrub any furniture you had your head near, hairbrushes and combs and any hair items. Sorry, I know it's a real pain.
My girls both got head lice from school a couple of years ago. But I really did not want to put such harsh chemicals so close to their faces and brains for that matter. So I did some research and came up with a system to get rid of the little buggers.
It started out with using a shampoo that has sulfur in it, Selsun Blue is what we used. I then combed out their hair and sprayed it with full strength white vinegar. This makes then eggs and the lice pop. After this I combed olive oil through the hair and wrapped it up in a plastic grocery bag. This is how they slept.
It took about a week to be fully rid of them and we went through this routine everyday of it. From then on they wore their hair up in ponytails and braids for school. They still continue to use the sulfur shampoo. Nothing wrong with a little preventative maintenance.
As far as washing everything, I did take all of their stuffed animals and stored them in garbage bags for two weeks to kill of anything that might transferred to them. Of course wash all of your bed linens.

I am a hairstylist and we would normally use formaldehyde, ( the blue liquid that you see sitting on the stylist counters with combs in there) but make sure that you put it on the hair and scalp, and also run a small tooth comb thru the hair... rinse good with cool water.

get an over the counter version of a prescription, nizoral. it will help w/ the flakes. not sure if you have seb derm on your forehead but you can put the shampoo on your forehead if you do %26amp; it will get rid of that too.

Pantene relaxed and natural anti-dandruff shampoo, and their regular conditioner. The shampoo stops the dandruff and the conditioner leaves the hair nice and soft. And make sure to use a clarifying shampoo once in a while because it does leave a buildup on the hair.
I know Perfect Results has a medicated shampoo that's blue and I have used it before and it gives your scalp this cool feeling!!..I likes it and it's good also for dandruff too ..u can buy it at a beauty supply store such as Sally's etc..
I believe there are some Head and Shoulder shampoo products that are made for dry hair now too.
I would also try some of the others that are mentioned.
Try to see if you can find sample sizes of the suggested shampoos so you don't invest to much in something that may not work well for you. Good luck, I too have problems with shampoos but it seems some work better at different times of the year?

I've had the same problem with my children. I use Prioderm on their hair then let it dry naturally then the next day I shampoo it out and smother their hair in conditioner and go through it with the Nitty Gritty comb (I got mine for 10 pounds from Boots) it really is the best thing I've EVER used and gets rid of all the nits AND eggs. You know how sometimes their hair are still covered with eggs even though you've gone through it thoroughly? Well this comb really does get them out and they look like they've got a new head of hair!! I swear by it and it's worth every penny.
Try diffrent brands and use a fine lice comb. put the shampoo on and run this through until there in no more lice visable then wash off, make sure she wears her hair up for pre school/school. to prevent yur child form re-catching them =] once you have got rid of the lice buy a tee tree oil spray for hair, it acts as a detterend =] xx

I use Prioderm on their hair then let it dry naturally then the next day I shampoo it out and smother their hair in conditioner and go through it with the Nitty Gritty comb (I got mine for 10 pounds from Boots) it really is the best thing I've EVER used and gets rid of all the nits AND eggs. You know how sometimes their hair are still covered with eggs even though you've gone through it thoroughly? Well this comb really does get them out and they look like they've got a new head of hair!! I swear by it and it's worth every penny.
Try diffrent brands and use a fine lice comb. put the shampoo on and run this through until there in no more lice visable then wash off, make sure she wears her hair up for pre school/school. to prevent yur child form re-catching them =] once you have got rid of the lice buy a tee tree oil spray for hair, it acts as a detterend =] xx

also, flea bombing ur house right after u treat ur child
if u have pets, they get lice 2, flea treat them
wash and dry all ur blankets and pillow cases, dry twice if comforter
get lice, flea,ect(all the same bottle) spray and spray on funiture if not flea bombed
make sure u wash all his or her clothes
wash stuffed animals a few times 2 kill lice
or put the stuffed animals in garbage bags 4 a month and the lice will sufficate

But I do know that with continuous usage, the scalp becomes used to any particular dandruff shampoo and then the flakes will reemmerge. That's why I will use a regular shampoo for about a week, with a few dandruff shampoo applications thrown in for good measure. I'll get flakes once in a while but it is temporary.
Listen to me,my sisters doctor prescribed Selsom Blue that works for her hair good,but I'm allergic to it so I use Neutorgina T-GEL works great!it makes my scalp feel good and clean I use that and shapoo and conditionar but it does good without that to,good luck hope u take my advice

If you shampoo your hair twice with your normal shampoo you'd probably find that it goes away. The first shampoo cleans the scalp and the second cleans the scuff outta your hair...also your problem may be due to the way you put conditioner in your hair if you just plonk it on top your sure to have leftover conditioner particles on your scalp. So dandruff might not even be ur prob. However if your prob persists use some thing from the hairdressers like Joico Anti-dandruff.
Was recommended Nizarol by my doctor for dandruff problems although I have not tried it. I use Himalaya dandruff shampoo and it works for me but before I wash my hair I massage my scalp with Himalaya hair oil to loosen the flakes and then shampoo off thoroughly. A good way not to spend too much is to buy small bottles - that way you can always get a bigger one if you find that particular shampoo suits your scalp. What works for some people might not work for the other.
In order for you to treat split ends, you will have to get a trim every 4-6 weeks, alternate your dandruff shampoo with a rich one including lots of conditioner and a weekly treatment mask and minimize usage of hair dryers and tongs. I believe you will see improvements soon enough.

Have you tried using alternatives? There are some natural alternatives. My dematologist told me not to use head and shoulders because it can make a person loose hair. The active ingreadient is Zinc. Sure, it's ok, but expensive . Have you noticed your hair thinning? And you don't really know if you have inherited the hair loss gene until it becomes active.

My brother has this stuff for their dog that has like, fish oil in it, that is anti-shedding...and they said it works AWESOME. Its not a shampoo, but a food additive, and their dog loves it so much he wont eat his food until it is on top of it, and he said the dog hardly sheds at all.

If dandruff shampoos are not working, its because you dont have dandruff. Its hard to tell the difference between dandruff, dry scalp and psoriases.
What you need to do is moisturize your scalp. I really like Nioxin Scalp Therapy, but there are lots of other ones. You can find nioxin at any salon or beauty supply, just rub it on to your scalp after you shampoo, leave it on for a couple mins and I swear to you, your flakes will be gone. but u can only get that in a salon that carries loreal products... it is awesome i use it and it is so good for the scalp!
so call around the salons in your area and just ask if they have loreal products in there salon... its worth it dude.. and u cannot get it in the drugstore..
u can also use nioxin.. that might work.. but that is more for thinning hair.. its a different system.... but i would lookf for the clear first

However disgusting this sounds, don't wash your hair, as much.
Dandruff is caused by the overall dryness of your scalp. Ironically, too much shampoo will end up drying out your scalp. Your body's natural oils will actually defend against this and create a more moisturized scalp.
As for not washing, it's not crunchy, hippie, or whatever %26amp; everyone won't notice in aghast that you smell. Because you won't by skipping washing your hair. Obviously, if you work out or have a heavy day, you'll need to use shampoo, but on a relatively light, sweat-free day, it's okay to skip the shampoo step in your shower regimen and just use conditioner.
If you're really self-concious about that whole thing, where a baseball cap when you can which will trap the bodies natural oils within your scalp. Then you can wash your hair with shampoo as much as you'd normally do.
Sadly enough, there's no cream to add to your hair which will moisturize your scalp without weighing down your hair heavily.
Go to your drug store.. Look at the ethnic product lines.. look for cholestorol.. it looks like a big jar of mayo... go home..
apply to every inch of your root area.. like a touch up.. put a moist towel in the dryer until it gets hot then wrap it around your head.. sit for a few hours, watch television or a movie, or paint you toes.. then rinse out with ice cold water.. this will seal up the scalp area so flakes dont fall out.. then go to sleep..
the next day shampoo your hair, then condition, then right before you get out the bathroom... run you head under cold bath water for 3 full minutes massaging your scalp a little!! just a little!

However disgusting this sounds, don't wash your hair, as much.
Dandruff is caused by the overall dryness of your scalp. Ironically, too much shampoo will end up drying out your scalp. Your body's natural oils will actually defend against this and create a more moisturized scalp.
As for not washing, it's not crunchy, hippie, or whatever %26amp; everyone won't notice in aghast that you smell. Because you won't by skipping washing your hair. If you're really self-concious about that whole thing, where a baseball cap when you can which will trap the bodies natural oils within your scalp. Then you can wash your hair with shampoo as much as you'd normally do.
Sadly enough, there's no cream to add to your hair which will moisturize your scalp without weighing down your hair heavily.
Go to your drug store.. Look at the ethnic product lines.. look for cholestorol.. it looks like a big jar of mayo... go home..
apply to every inch of your root area.. like a touch up.. put a moist towel in the dryer until it gets hot then wrap it around your head.. sit for a few hours, watch television or a movie, or paint you toes.. then rinse out with ice cold water.. this will seal up the scalp area so flakes dont fall out.. then go to sleep..
the next day shampoo your hair, then condition, then right before you get out the bathroom... run you head under cold bath water for 3 full minutes massaging your scalp a little!! just a little!

I find that Virgin Vie detox shampoo works really well, it's like a once a week thing, rather than everytime you shampoo, but it's quite natural and excellent at stripping out any build up, and that stops it getting greasy quick. I don't know of such a good conditioner though, but I use Dove conditioning masks all they're ace. Hope it helps.
i like a shampoo called 'Happy Hippy' from a shop called Lush. if u don't have a store near u, u can order it online. (lush.com) all of the products are made with natural ingredients, so if a product says it is lemon scented or jasmine scented, it means that it really does contain that ingredient. the 'happy hippy' shampoo contains lemons and grapefuit, and it smells wonderful - not like some shampoos that claim to be lemon scented, but just smell just like washing up liquid ! (yuck!) and it leaves your hair feeling soft %26amp; light, not heavy %26amp; greasy like some moisturisng shampoos do. it really is worth a try - as are most of their other products. give their bath bombs a try too - they are fantastic !!!

eta. know what you mean - i can wash every other day with this, i always try to leave it as long as possible between washes because the natural oils are good for your hair. if i need to go a third day i'll put it up and dust with a bit of baby powder (not too much or it goes white!), can't leave it much longer as it 'feels' dirty.
Washing your hair everyday with a shampoo that is not ph balanced to 5.5 (the balance of skin and hair) will strip away your skins hydrolipidic layer (your skins defence against bacteria, etc) your skin then produces more oil to protect itself - hence the ';greasy'; appearance of your roots. Use a range like Redken or MOP which can be used every day, but you will probably find that you wont need to wash your hair that often once it is balanced.

Anti-dandruff lemon preparation (1):
Ingredients:
Take eight tablespoons of lemon juice.
One and half cup of water
Mix all the ingredients together and apply it on head. Keep it for two to three hours and then wash it off.
Anti-dandruff egg preparation:
Ingredients:
Take an egg white of one egg.
One tablespoon of lemon juice
Beat the egg white and mix lemon juice in it. Apply it and leave it soak for about an hour before shampooing your hair.
Anti-dandruff sesame preparation (1):
Ingredients:
Take one tablespoon of sesame oil.
Three tablespoons of bhailavan.
Blend the two together and apply it on the head. Keep it for two to three hours and wash it off with shampoo in lukewarm water.
Anti-dandruff rosemary preparation:
Take handful of rosemary leaves
Two teaspoons of vinegar
Take one litre of water.
Boil the water and soak rosemary leaves in it. Keep it for one night. Strain and add vinegar to it. After shampooing, wash your hair with this mixture.
Anti-dandruff lemon preparation (2):
Take handful of lemon peels.
Five hundred ml of water.
One handful of saptala.
Soak lemon peels and saptala in boiling water. Keep it for five to six hours and then strain it. Rinse with this after shampooing.
Anti-dandruff vinegar preparation:
Take two tablespoons of vinegar.
Half bucket of water.
Mix the vinegar in water and after shampooing wash your hair with this mixture.
Anti-dandruff sesame preparation (2):

I dont know about what u have in Indian markets but i am a hair dresser and i have found the best and safest way to get rid of lice is to put Mayo all over your head work into hair really good and cover with a plastic hair cap.
