everyday in the afternoon when the sun is out and its not too cold,i bring my 9 month old JRT out to play in the yard...he always digs dirt and eat grasses..im scared he might get fleas or ticks coz he always lay on the ground...he's a house dog anywas, and i dont want him to bring fleas or ticks inside the house...any idea of what shampoo or anything that can help prevent ticks or fleas? What is the best anti-fleas or tick shampoo for the 9 month old JRT dog?
Try a natural Neem or Tea Tree Oil shampoo- gentle, effective, you can use it as often as you like, and zero dangerous side effects. You can also get them in spray formula and spray the oils onto your pup right before going outside for extra protection.
Don't waste your money on Frontline/Advantix; it's overpriced and dangerous. Any spot-on flea product has been PROVEN to cause cardiac problems, breathing problems, allergic reactions, cancer, organ failure, and death. Here is an article that fully explains the dangers of the chemicals in those products (to humans AND dogs alike!):

The only thing that absolutely prevents fleas, their eggs, their larvae and ticks is a monthly topical liquid applied to the back of the dog's neck.
Cheap stuff does not work - Frontline Plus or Advantix works very well - I use it on all my dogs and they never have fleas or ticks - but you must use it every month, without fail.
Save your money, shampoos, collars, sprays, etc. only work a little on adult fleas - they come right back as the eggs and larvae hatch.
Use Frontline Plus or Advantix and your dog will be flea and tick free.
palmolive (regular) dish detergent works well and it is not too strong for a puppy if that is your concern. A flea comb while he is lathered up really does the trick...... only at killing the adult fleas!
I once found a litter of abandoned kittens (not even weened yet) and took them to the vet because they were filthy and covered in fleas..... the vet recommended the palmolive.
It sounds like your puppy is old enough though to go to the vet for a prescribed monthly treatment! This works the best!
Ask your Vet for Frontline or K9 Advantix, and do this very soon. You will probably not need an appointment - but, you need to get this from a vet.

a great all natural flea and tick spray for dogs - it really repels them!
what i use for my lab because she's yound and i'm cheap is Dawn dish soap the original blue formula in the clear shell bottle, it works wonders
frontline plus or k-9 advantige
I've always liked Hartz, but sometimes you need to go with the prescription brand at the vets if your pup is dealing with exceptionally feisty bugs.
Get De Flea! It really is the best! My dog had fleas and it kills the fleas and ticks on contact. Works of puppys, adult dogs, cats, and Kittens.
1rst ask the vet for a certin shampoo when go to a pet store. then u can always try an organic wash thats not tested on animals
