I would suggest Frontline type of flea treatment for your dog to start. If you shampoo first, you'll have to wait at least 2 days before applying the meds to the back of neck because the oils in the skin need to replenish after the bath. The oils help keep the meds on your pup and spread appropriately.





We have only ever used the frontline and not done flea baths in years. One treatment and in a day, the adults are gone and the hatching eggs go quickly after.





Then if you do have an infestation in your home, you definitely want to clean your home thouroughly and do a flea bomb or spray on your fabrics and carpets.

Use a spot on treatment like Frontline or Advantage. Talk to your vet about treatments...supermarket/pet shop treatments are about as useful as **** on a bull! Please avoid the anti-flea shampoos...I've spent far too much time lately nursing animals that have been poisoned by flea-bath preparations.





You probably don't even need a flea bomb. If you use a decent flea treatment on your dog, just make sure that you vacuum your house and clean the dog's bedding throroughly.
If he has A LOT of fleas I recommend giving him the bath then as soon as he is completely dry apply FRONTLINE. Frontline you can get from the vet and it is the BEST and safest stuff for your animal. It works awesome and is waterproof. Do not use the stuff you get from the grocery store as I have seen cases of the pesticides in it killing dogs and cats. Frontline has no pesticides and is completely safe. You can also flea bomb the house.





With Frontline, you can give them a bath beforehand just make sure they are completely dry. also, do not bathe the pup again for 24 hours to give the frontline time to work and spread.
It really depends on how old your dogs are. If they are older than 12 weeks, any one or usually a combination of these may help. Flea and tick shampoos are useful, but some can also do more harm than good (as with anything if your animal is sensitive). Check with your vet for a good flea and tick shampoo. Also, the vet will have a pill you can give that will start to work in about 30 min and will only kill for 24 hours. It is called Capstar. Then I know it is a little expensive but works wonderfully on fleas but I use advantage or advantix ( in my opinion it has the best flea product on the market). this is also something you have to get through your vet. Then as you are working on getting your dog flea free, you need to spray your house and your yard. There are many fine products out there, or have a professional do it, they understand the flea life cycle and can be a great help. You will need to spray every 8-10 days for at least 3 times. In the yard be sure to spray your house even with the windows and also spray hedges and trees (fleas love dark shady places). I have worked for a vet for 41/2 years and can tell you that a heavy infestation of fleas can cause many problems for your dog. You may also want to get some tape worm medicine for him too, fleas cause tape worms! Fleas are not easy to get a hold on, it takes time patience and diligence. Good luck!
use a twizer to get rid of the fleas as many as possible through the coat of fur slowly and patiently.


then, prevent the fleas from coming back with a kind of medicine which you can get from pet shops which u only need to drip a few drops on the collar of the dog.

most importantly, prevent your dog from bushy areas.


when bathing the dog,you could use mild human baby shampoo on them.


and also medicated shampoos for dogs.


every dog has fleas. just depends on the amount.


try grooming your dog too.


the shorter the fur, the lesser chance of being attacked by fleas..

I agree with the Frontline. Have used it for years after wasting money on the pet store stuff. Will never use anything else. It works!
You might want to bomb your home first before bathing the dog, if you bathe first there is more of a chance the dog will get more fleas from the carpets. After bombing, bathe dog with flea, tick, and egg killer. Yes, if you notice more afterwards use a flea killer that you apply to the backbone, this stuff is more concentrated. Trust me, we just tried to give our dogs flea baths and not even two days later they were infested again from our carpets! It's too cold outside now where I live for fleas to survive so it has to be from our carpets.

1) On day one(whatever day) give the dog a bath in a GOOD.. not a cheap, flea shampoo;


2) Remove the dog from the house and get a good flea aerosol spray or buy a hand sprayer and at Home Depot, get a good flea spray.. the liquid that you mix with water..... and then spray the places where the dog goes in the house to include partly up the walls.


3) Then one week later from day one.. do the process all over again.. why? fleas lay eggs. On day one, you will kill the fleas and on day two(one week later), the eggs will hatch and your spraying then will kill those newly hatched fleas
here is what i use on my dog and he has not gotten any fleas use a small amount of palmolive dish soap water and hydrogen peroxide ( in a small dishsoap bottle) and squirt it on your dog after you have gotten him wet and lather up and rinse off you will see the fleas come right off of him. and go to your vet for frontline or k9advantix
go to a vet's office and tell them the weight of your dog and tell them you need FRONTLINE.....it will kill all the fleas on your dog, kill the eggs, and kill all of the ones in your house. The stuff you can get at stores are not good for you or your animals. Frontline is safe for everyone and kills fleas and ticks!!! don't waste your money on the other stuff...just get frontline...i promise you and your dog will be happy that you did!!!!
That all sounds good. I would personally skip the bath and do the flea drops. But you cant bathe them for like 4 days before or afterwards. Then vacuum after the bomb and put poison in the yard if your dog spends time outside, as there will be fleas there too. Dont forget to water the poison in. Then I'd follow up with another bomb a month later, and keep up with the flea baths
Treat the dog and treat his bedding and treat your house. If he is an outside dog you should treat your yard too.





Get the dog on flea treatment from your vet and keep him on it . Don't wait for fleas to show up on the dog first. They bite the dog's humans too!
Use the fogger and get a product called Frontline from your Vet.
Frontline and Capstar. Capstar is an oral med that kills adult fleas. Frontline will kill 3 out of the 4 lifecycles of fleas. Then totally treat the house. Be persistent. Fleas will hide in baseboards, in furniture, bedding, etc. Flea spray for the house...wash-wash-wash, vacuum-vacuum-vacuum. Don't forget to remove the vacuum bag after vacuuming and toss it into the trash and take the trash out away from the house. Good luck!
Get a flea treatment from the vet like Frontline that seems to be the best. Flea collars and stuff from the pet shop generally doesnt work very well. There is a soap you can buy called 'Flea-Go' it works very well just bath your dog, lather it with the soap and leave it for 5 minutes. This should kill all the fleas. Also hoover all the areas your pet lies and machine wash its bedding. Pay particular attention to any warm areas like under radiators etc. Good Luck!

Pour a bottle of cheap scotch over your dog and them roll him/her in sand. The fleas get drunk and then stone each other to death!

But seriously, something like Frontline is pretty dam good. Clean all the bedding and any area you dog like to sleep. And do this regularly.
fleas hate salt. spronkle salt on dog and rub in. leave on for 15 minutes then shampoo dog. this is also good for fleas in carpet.
