Anti-dandruff shampoo?

I've had dandruff for a long time and it didn't really bother me too much until I started wearing darker colors, since it shows up more.

I tried Head and Shoulders for a few days and I broke out in hives each day, making me think that I'm allergic.

Any anti-dandruff shampoos besides Head and Shoulders that you would recommend?Anti-dandruff shampoo?
Below is a list of various active ingredients in anti danruff shampoos

selenium sulfide (selsun blue)

pyrithione zinc (head and sholulders)

Coal tar solutions (tegrin

Salicylic Acid (neutrogena tgel)

I have found the most success with selsun blue and other selenium sulfide shampoos, but every person is different, so i would say you best bet is to try them out. Dermatologists can also sell you special shampoo for dandruff.Anti-dandruff shampoo?
Which head and shoulders did you use? There are two common active ingredients used for anti-dandruff shampoos:

selenium sulfide

pyrithione zinc

All anti-dandruff shampoos are going to have one of these two ingredients in it. Check the one you have been using and see which one it uses.

Unless you were using H%26amp;S Intense Solutions, it was likely Pyrithione Zinc. Look at the anti-dandruff shampoos in the store and find one that has the other ingredient in it. The only two I know of off hand that have Selenium Sulfide in it are the H%26amp;S Intense Solutions and Selsun Blue, they both work wonders.

If switching to the other active ingredient does not help, then you are likely allergic to another ingredient in them that will likely be common in ALL of them.

If the other ingredient breaks you out, try washing your hair with white vinegar before using your normal shampoo. It stinks, but it really does help with dandruff. If this doesn't work, then you will have to see a dermatologist.

I really hope this helps you. Good luck.
i suffer from DANDRUFF too but i know how to cure it i was prescribed 2 shampoos by my doctor one is called T-Gel and the other one is supposedly better and is called Capasal i have been using it for a short while and has shown many positive outcomes my hair is nearly dandruff free thanks to Capasal
i normally do use head and shoulders but as you said you seem to be allergic, theres another brand selsun blue but i dont think it works very well...if you go to the dermatologist they can prescribe a type that will mosst likely work better then any type of over the counter brands
Go to your vitamins section and get Cod-liver capsules and pop one a day and watch the flakes go away
Idk , but try asking a hair stylist, or some hair cut people locally, they shall know some good ones!
selsun blue usually works
Use head and shoulders, it works good for me.
