Good shampoo/anti frizz cream for curly hair?

Hello, I have really curly hair (natural). I was wondering what kind of shampoos I should use to make it less frizzy, and all of that good stuff, and any creams too. I would prefer stuff that is not too expensive, thanks :)Good shampoo/anti frizz cream for curly hair?
My daughter has VERY thick, curly hair that is also long. I tried all kinds of expensive shampoos and conditioners and found that I wouldn't be able to afford that stuff. We tried Suave Professionals, Humectress. It is great. It works just as well as the brand name, and better than many of the expensive ones we tried. Once she gets out she uses Sunsilk De-Frizz cream. She does not blow it dry and her curls come out great. Good Luck!Good shampoo/anti frizz cream for curly hair?
use none of your frizzyness shampoo by herbal essences! it works wonderfully and it smells great. i also think they have a cream as well. and it's not expensive.

Does anti-brassiness shampoo really work?

Well I have brasiness in my hair, and I got this special shampoo at the salon and it says its supposed to take out unwanted brasiness and sliverness. I was just wondering, will it really take the brasiness out? Has anyone ever tried it?Does anti-brassiness shampoo really work?
I use it in the salon all the time and yes, it does work. You usually need to leave it on for 3-5 minutes for it to be effective =)

If your hair is damaged, be very careful using this product, as it will ';grab.'; (Meaning, it will make the damaged parts, usually the ends of the hair, look gray-ish or purple-ish.)

selsen-blue
Neutrogena T-Gel. Doesn't smell very good but does the job for all dry scalp conditions. Can make hair a bit greasy so you may not want to use it everyday. You can alternate it with regular shampoo. The other downside is that, due to the fact it contains tar, it can discolour heavily bleached hair.
T-Gel. I have been using every other day for years and am completely dandruff free.

I guess all dandruff is dandruff. Anyway I am a girl so I hope this works for you too. I use either pantene pro v dandruff shampoo or garnier fructis and they both work. You should also be aware that most of the time dandruff is caused by dry scalp so drink lots of water and make sure your scalp is hydrated.
SENSUN BLUE SHAMPOO ITS A VERY GOOD MEDICAL SHAMPOO AND IT IS ONLY AVAILABLE ON PHARMACIES.
Depend what you have already tried and how bad it is. If head and shoulders doesn't work use Polytar, found in a brown/bronze bottle , it is superb!

Make sure you don't use too much products on your hair, and don't wash your hair too often! Like every 2 days!
a vacuum lol don't try that, why not use an anti-dandruff shampoo, it is the easiest thing

My shih tzu has dandruff. Can I use commercial human anti-dandruff shampoo?

Yes, you can..but any time you use a human shampoo product, you need to mix 1/4 cup of any vinegar, or lemon juice in 1 gallon of water for use as the final rinse..to restore the PH balance for a dog's skin..

Edit: I just saw your new note.. flaky skin is normal for puppies of that age..no shampoo will help..just brush out as much as you can...but it is just the new hair growing in and the puppy fluff shedding..It will go away soon...Don't shampoo your pup until it is at least 8 weeks old, as they chill much too easily, and have a suppressed (undeveloped) immune system. Newborn human babies do that too... they get the flaky head!..My shih tzu has dandruff. Can I use commercial human anti-dandruff shampoo?
use oat meal shampoo. and give your dog supplement of cod liver oil or any type of fish oil for dogs. it worked wonders for my corgiMy shih tzu has dandruff. Can I use commercial human anti-dandruff shampoo?
Since shih tzus have hair vs fur, a gentle baby shampoo would work nicely. For a 6 week old pup, i would not recommend anything as harsh as dandruff shampoo. Dandruff or flaking in a puppy/dog can also be a sign of food intolerance. Wait until your pup is older and if the dandruff is still an issue, consult with your vet. Most likely just changing his food will help. ALso bathing dogs too often can cause more harm than good since you strip their fur/hair of the natural oils and emolients that dogs need in their fur to protect their skin from drying out.
Yes you can use human dandruff shampoo on your dog. Use a mild one.
    ****NO****!!!! NEVER!!! DO NOT!!!

Dogs DON'T get ';dandruff'; %26amp; ***NEVER*** use human stuff OR dish soap on DOGS!!!

Your PUP DOES *NOT* have ';dandruff'; but it MIGHT have chylatiala(sp?) which is a MITE!! %26amp; needs INSECTICIDE shampoo FROM VET!!! MICODEX

';kingscourt'; is AN IDIOT!!! as is EVERYBODY ELSE who'd use ANYTHING but DOG PRODUCTS ON DOGS!
yes you can use human dandruff shampoo on dogs, but I wouldn't use it on a 6 wk old pup, she's still too little. Try an oatmeal based doggy shampoo instead. Also, I don't know what you're feeding her, but it might be the food you are feeding that is causing her to have dry skin. I recommend the all natural dog foods that aren't full of wheat, corn and other stuff that lots of Shih-tzus tend to be allergic to. The better foods cost a little bit more initially but they do last longer because the dog doesn't eat as much of it, and poops less too. Also, they are healthier which means fewer vet visits.

Some good dog food brands are:

    Solid Gold

    Innova

    Wellness

    Timberwolf

    California Natural

    Natural Balance
No,because it might have side effects for animals. call your vet they will suggest a good one that will be safe for your dog
On my shih tzu Kasey I used my husbands dandruff shampoo and then once I had it under control I started bathing her in regular shampoo and conditioner and it has taken very good care of her dandruff
Its not dandruff if its a six week old puppy. Shame on the person who sold it to you so young.
MNY, you might try with parsley water. It is an infusion made with parsley.
i dont think so bcoz dogs coat are different. you should try out a shampoo that have anti dandruff. but once i used sunsilk on my shih tzu, i want him to have a nice smell.
    no
    never use a human shampoo

i m a vet we never advice to use human shampoo for vets
NO! Get an oatmeal shampoo, or better yet, go to www.petedge.com and get something called Eqyss medicated shampoo. I have a tzu and that's all that works on her for itching.
Go ahead. And make sure you get it in its eyes.
Don't you know that using human shampoo ect. on pets is what gives them dandruff and dry skin most of the time besides makes the itch. Thats why they make body washes for our pets.
There are several medicated shampoos on the market especially formulated for canines....even tar shampoos which are similar to Head and Shoulders for humans.

Your Shih tzu may simply have dry skin due to the fact that he/she is getting too many baths. Too many baths = dry skin= excessive scratching...so it can be a vicious cycle.

I hate to say this, but ...ah hmmmm...Mr. Get em Gang may be correct about the chylatiala mites. This months DVM magazine had an article reporting that the chylatiala mite is more common on dogs than vets have thought in the past. Maybe a vet check is needed to rule out a parasite problem.

Now this may cause Mr. Get em Gang's neck veins to pulsate rapidly, but....if you insist on bathing you dog with human shampoo, use nothing but a very mild and hypo allergenic human baby shampoo and only about once a month and never use hot water. (just tepid)

If your dogs problem is simply dry skin from over bathing, you can mix one tbs. of Avon's Skin So Soft in one gallon of tepid water and pour this over your dog for the final rinse. The vet that I worked for has been using this for years on dog with itchy, dry skin and a few years ago, before the wonderful invention of the new absorb-able flea remedies, Skin So Soft killed fleas just as good as any dip that was available at that time.

You may also try gradually switching your dog to a premium dog kibble such as Innova EVO to make sure your dog is receiving an adequate diet to promote healthy skin from the inside.
not a good idea really its not designed for dogs that why they make dog shampoo.

you can buy a really good one from woolley it has oat meal in it and its good for the skin doesnt fry out but remember you dog is only a puppy they shed skin for a few weeks or months they are growing into their skin and growing hair :)
Usually dandruff treatment pet shampoo (for both dogs and cats) is available at most pet stores. They should carry both organic/natural and manufactured shampoos. Some of the organic/natural shampoos work very well for dandruff (but I don't recommend them for fleas).
    no
At this young age, I would only bathe her in an oatmeal based shampoo from your vet-other shampoos can soak into the skin and might make her physically ill to the point of throwing up.She is such a young age that you need to make sure she doesn't get a chill-even if it hot outside,as this could cause an upper respitory infection that could lead to other difficult problems for your puppy. Make sure you protect her eyes and ears when being bathed-left unprotected could cause serious issues in these areas too. Please don't put your puppy in harms way just for a little animal dander, combing her coat daily will also help tremendously!!!!!!
No, because human shampoos may be too harsh on an animals delicate coat.. It amy dry out or shih tzu's hair. Please visit a vet for he should now what to do to your dog's problem.
No, I wouldn't. Commercial shampoo will possibly make it worse.Animals have different type hair than we do.
You should only use a mild puppy/baby shampoo on a puppy! Some human products CAN harm a dog/puppy. I would be VERY careful...and check with a veterinarian or groomer. Also...a high quality puppy food may help.
Go to the store and get some vitamin E oil and rub it into her skin. You will see a huge difference. It really works wonders.
Most vets will tell you no, because they are more harsh than what is formulated for pets. I worked for a vet and here is what they would tell you to do.

Regular brushing and grooming your pet will help distribute natural oils evenly over dry skin, which will help keep dandruff down. Choose a brush that's not too harsh. You can tell by rubbing the brush against the back of your hand to see if it will hurt. Something you would use on your own head will be excellent for your pet. Most flea shampoos are very drying to the skin, creating more dandruff problems. Use a mild shampoo. Watch the labels. Bathing your pet once a month in winter and twice a month in summer may clear up the problem for good.
Try using oatmeal puppy shampoo. It is very soft and its easy on skin.
i don't think so it to harsh get what the vet says . my neighbor has a dog like yours if it starts to try to pull the fur out of it's back end it has mange had to have a shot to kill the mange one shot to keep from killing the dog.
I have used Head and Shoulders and I found that it does good and doesn't dry out the skin.
I wouldn't use human shampoo only puppy shampoo
i wouldn't i heard it will dry out the skin...it may make it worse...just buy something from a pet store or vet

Is shampoo an anti bacterial, anti septic and disinfectant?

is shampoo an anti bacterial, anti septic and disinfectant? Is shampoo an anti bacterial, anti septic and disinfectant?
its none of those unless the shampoo has specifically had an additive with any of those capabilities. for instance soaps used to have hexachlorophene, a bactericidal agent, in it. then again soaps in general are low level disinfectants but that is not to imply that they kill bacteria. so unless you are using a specific medicated shampoo the over the counter variety is not doing anything but cleaning your hair. read the lable it musttell you if the soap has special properties of the kind your asking. and it must identify the chemical or agent that provides those properties. Is shampoo an anti bacterial, anti septic and disinfectant?
I don't think so...but I don't think you need so much cleaner for hair. You can't get many germs from hair...it just gets greasy sometimes.
No, but it may be anti dandruff!

Can i use Head& Sholders anti dandruff shampoo and after that sunsilk conditioner? Can 2 brands b used together?

Yeah you can mixed any shampoos and conditioners nothing bad will happen to your hair you can use which ever brand you like they don't need to be the same. Can i use Head%26amp; Sholders anti dandruff shampoo and after that sunsilk conditioner? Can 2 brands b used together?
Yup!Can i use Head%26amp; Sholders anti dandruff shampoo and after that sunsilk conditioner? Can 2 brands b used together?
yea I do it all the time, they say its better to stick with brands because they are formulated to work together but sometimes you just can't lol. It won't hurt your hair or your scalp.
I do that every time I shower. (Bcuz my dad buys a lot of various shampoo's and conditioner's, and I can't choose or anything..)

It works just as well as using something from the same brand.
